Why buy a high-mileage camera when there are plenty of barely used ones around. Now, will it fail? Well probably not, Nikon makes pretty good cameras but that's besides the point. This to me is borderline deceptive, since they're making a claim of a specific lifespan of the shutter they should back up the claim if it fails before that lifespan. Also they won't honor a warranty unless you're the original purchaser anyway. If it fails before 150k actuation they will do nothing for you if it's out of warranty. What is the maximum limit for Nikon shutter count As practice shows, most DSLR cameras have up to 150,000 - 200,000 shutter actuations. Otherwise, you will purchase a device with a short lifespan. They will only get cheaper as the D500 comes out.Īnother thing to mention is that Nikon may rate their shutter at some number, but it has nothing to do with warranty or guarantee. When buying a second-hand camera, make sure that the number of shutter actuation doesn’t exceed 30,000 - 50,000. They've been spotted refurbished for around $500 and that includes a (somewhat limited) warranty. Though - replacing a shutter-unit can be rather inexpensive for a handy "Do it Your self"erĭon't buy it. Not much of a space left for a "new" price with 2 years of warranty. Repair-prices at the "official" repair-center is about $175 at hour - exclude the retail-price but including VAT. The price of replacing a shutter is horrible here. If it does wear a decent lens - the story changes - a lens keeps it's price - and can easily be worth the buy it self. Just now, new D7100 (bodys) are sold in Denmark (where you live) for a little less, than $800 - not even the double, if the one in speak is body-only too. That said - if you want it to last 4 years - I wouldn't by used. I don't think, that shutter counts "counts" that much - nobody knows the lifetime for a shutter. I am going to use it for macro of insects and bird photography mainly, but also other things. Is the shuttercount too high? Anything else i have to worry about? I am worries about its lifetime, i want it to last 4 years. I am currently looking for a used Nikon D7100, and i found one on a website like eBay, where a private person sells one with a shuttercount of 88.000.
